Lagos gives residents until Dec 31 to comply with mandatory health insurance

On October 27, 2026, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a deadline for residents, employers, and workers to comply with mandatory health insurance requirements. The deadline is set for December 31, 2026, with enforcement of the policy beginning on January 1, 2027. This announcement was made during the launch of the Lagos Private Health Plans (LPHP), aimed at extending health insurance coverage to salary earners in the state.
