Darazo, Bauchi

The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has taken significant action in Bauchi State by sealing 722 pharmacies, patent and proprietary medicine vendor (PPMV) shops, and illegal drug outlets. This operation was conducted across 14 local government areas, including Bauchi, Darazo, Gamawa, Kirfi, Alkaleri, Toro, Misau, Katagum, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro, Dass, Ningi, Warji, and Jama’are, in response to various regulatory violations.
The PCN's initiative aims to combat the illegal sale of controlled substances such as Tramadol and Rohypnol, which pose serious health risks. The regulatory body has emphasized the importance of adhering to pharmaceutical laws to ensure public safety. The current situation reflects a proactive approach by the PCN to regulate the pharmaceutical sector and protect consumers from unsafe medications. No specific numbers of individuals affected by these closures were reported, but the extensive operation indicates a widespread issue in the state.
