We Are Working To Rescue Abducted Benue Priest — Police

On October 16, 2026, a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr John Inalegwu Otache, was abducted from St Margaret’s Parish located in Ajegbe-Awume, within the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria. The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that security operatives have been deployed to the area to facilitate the rescue of the priest.

The police spokesperson, DSP Orchia Peter Aondongu, indicated that efforts are underway to secure the release of Rev. Fr Otache.
