We’ve developed ginger planting material resistant to fungal attacks – NBRDA

On October 22, 2026, in Abuja, the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) announced the development of ginger planting material that is resistant to fungal attacks. This initiative aims to revive ginger production in Nigeria, which has been severely impacted by a recent disease outbreak affecting farms nationwide. The announcement was made by Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NBRDA, during a press briefing.
